Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III for the Montvale Police Department
The Borough of Montvale is accepting applications for the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III (SLEO Class III) to perform safety and security duties at Pascack Hills High School in the Borough of Montvale. The hours are 11am to 7pm Monday-Friday.
- Starting salary for the S.L.E.O. Class III will be $61,180.00 per year.
In order to apply for the position you must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be a retired law enforcement officer, less than 65 years of age, who served as a duly qualified, fully trained, full-time officer in any municipality or county of this State or as a member of New Jersey State Police and was separated from that prior service in good standing, within (3) years of appointment to this position.
- Must reside in New Jersey and possess a valid NJ Driver’s license.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language with reasonable proficiency and possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be retired from that agency in good standing (necessary to have a letter of good standing issued by the agency from which officer retired, listing the date and type of retirement. A copy will be submitted to the PTC). “Good Standing” shall exclude a retirement from injury or incapacity.
- Must be of good moral character and no convictions of any offense involving dishonesty or any other behavior that would make the applicant unfit to perform his or her duties.
- Must successfully pass an updated background investigation to include a psychological exam and drug screen pursuant to Attorney General’s Law Enforcement Drug Testing Policy.
- Must pass a medical exam and have doctor complete Medical Certification Form (Form PTC 8A).
- Must be physically capable of performing the functions of the position, determined in accordance with the Police Academy Training Commission.
- Must possess a New Jersey Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification or NJ State Police Academy Certification.
