Reminder Regarding Proper Leaf Disposal

To all Residents and Landscaping Contractors:

As we hit the peak of leaf season, just a friendly reminder that dumping leaves and other vegetative waste into the Pascack Brook is a violation of various provisions of the Borough Code. Contractors who improperly dispose of leaves and vegetative waste expose themselves and their clients to violations and penalties. 

Borough of Montvale Code Chapter 332, “Solid Waste,” Article II, “Recycling,” Section 11.B(5) requires all leaves to be placed into leaf bags and placed at curbside or otherwise removed from the property.

Code Chapter 305, “Property Maintenance,” Article I, “General Provisions, Section 7.B(9) states that properties adjoining waterways shall maintain the property “in such a manner so as to prevent material located on the property [including] leaves, grass clippings or other debris, from entering the waterways, thus impeding or tending to impede the free flow of water, either intrinsically or in conjunction with other material located within the flow way.”

Please help us keep our waterways clear to reduce pollution, control flooding, and keep Montvale beautiful.
